Homme pour femme

Vogue is reporting that Kris Van Assche is to design a denim-based womenswear line for the Dior Homme brand.  Contradiction in terms?  Or fashion fabulous step forward?

The Dior Homme collections are pretty stylish, with most pieces in the fashionista staple of black, although the items I seem to find off the runway and in the stores can look a bit tacky (particularly the choice of fabrics), but maybe that says a bit more about the kind of men who can afford Dior? I do love Kris's personal collection, though, so perhaps he can infuse the Homme womenswear line with a bit of that Van Assche cool.  And I wonder if this is some sort of design test, to see if Kris could one day take over the helm of Dior from Galliano...
