Stripes for summer

It's another beautiful, sunny day in Oxford and Duck has put his back out. Not from a night of unbridled passion (more's the pity), but more than likely because the old spine is no longer used to the office chair after such a long spell of travelling and Bank Holidays... Since I can't find many positions more comfortable than standing, I guessed this evening's perfect activity would be prepping another outfit post, this time making use of some bargains I discovered in Bicester Village yesterday! I don't know if it's Prada SS 2011, or seeing Anna's new Opening Ceremony top this weekend, but I'm in the mood for Frenchy stripes in the form of a boxy Breton top by Saint James (found, in all places, in Toast which apparently stocks menswear now and has a dinky little store on Oxford High Street). I hit Bicester Village quite hard in search of new trousers – the dairy-free diet has really been kicking in and I have few remaining pairs which will stay up without the aid of a belt – and came away happily with this pair from Marni. They are wide-legged and slightly too short (to show off my shoes...), made in a lightweight black canvas-like fabric. Consider this my antidote to the rolled-up chino and loafers brigade who seem to be taking over Oxford and London.
